Wedding ceremonies

• Your wedding ceremony can be held alfresco, in the castle’s park, a true green oasis of the dreamy Krka River, on the mighty courtyard embraced by the medieval walls, or in the privacy of the Knight’s Room. Wedding ceremonies are carried out by the Novo Mesto Registrar at the castle. All marriages made in Slovenia are officially valid in all countries.

  At Otočec we organize wedding packages that include a wedding ceremony plus a wedding reception. If requested, only a wedding ceremony can be held with a welcome snack for the wedding party.

• Basic wedding ceremonies

  There are basic wedding ceremonies to choose from, held in the stunning atmosphere of the romantic Otočec Castle - a wedding ceremony in the Knight’s Room or an alfresco wedding ceremony.

  Castle wedding in the Knight’s Room

  The ceremony in the castle includes:

  • a reception and speech by the Count and the Countess,
  • a wedding ceremony in the Knight’s Room,
  • a pianist,
  • announcement of the newlyweds by the Count,
  • a double row of wedding guests and traditional throwing of wheat symbolizing fertility,
  • ceremonial opening of a bottle of champagne with a sword (if requested).

  Alfresco wedding ceremony

  A romantic ceremony in the stunning park next the castle includes:

  • a reception and speech by the Count and Countess,
  • the official part of the wedding ceremony – alfresco,
  • a pianist and sound system,
  • a decorated arch and wedding pavilion,
  • announcement of the newlyweds by the Count,
  • a double row of wedding guests and traditional throwing of wheat symbolizing fertility,
  • ceremonial opening of a bottle of champagne with a sword (if requested).

  A ceremony to your liking

  Make the basic wedding ceremonies and receptions special in your own way – enhance them with a band, a limousine, balloons, doves, skydivers, fireworks ... Everything your heart desires. Why not? It’s your day!

  Your wedding ceremony can be further enhanced by the following additional services:

  • a violinist,
  • fanfares,
  • a zitherist,
  • a handmade wedding document with a personal dedication and a stamp from the castle’s printing press,
  • a hundred balloons released after the ceremony,
  • a release of two white doves, a symbol of peace and love, after the exchanging of the wows and the official part of wedding ceremony,
  • a panoramic horse-drawn carriage ride prior to or after the ceremony, as well as to the church at Šempeter village in case the church ceremony takes place there,
  • a limousine rental,
  • a professional photographer, cameraman, make-up artist, hairdresser etc.,
  • transfer of the wedding party to the location of your choice – e. g. the church or any other church wedding ceremony location.

Wedding receptions

• A perfect wedding ceremony is followed by a wedding reception that can be held at different castle venues, depending on your wishes and the number of your guests. Choose the one that suits you best.

• A wedding reception at Otočec Castle can be organized:

  • in the Castle Restaurant (up to 55 persons),
  • in the Hunter’s Room with a fireplace (up to 12 persons),
  • in the Knight’s Room (up to 14 persons),
  • on the castle terrace (up to 80 persons),
  • on the garden terrace (up to 40 persons),
  • in the pavilion on the glade (unlimited number of guests).

  To get your marriage off to a good start, we have prepared a complete offer at the Otočec Castle Hotel: from a royal wedding ceremony to top gastronomy and a possibility of spending your honeymoon in the romantic atmosphere of the Otočec Castle. Our services include:

  • a post-ceremony banquet,

  Wedding lunch or dinner

  We also provide a wide range of wedding lunches and dinners at Otočec for you and your family and friends. Depending on the number of guests, you can either choose the Otočec Castle Restaurant, which seats up to 55 people, the Hunter’s Room, which seats up to 12 people, or even a dinner in the open-air or in the pavilion on the castle glade.

  Accommodation

  Your wedding guests have a wide range of accommodation facilities to choose from: in addition to the luxurious rooms at the Otočec Castle Hotel, there are accommodation facilities available at the Šport Hotel at Otočec, the hotels at Dolenjske Toplice Spa and Šmarješke Toplice Spa and the Krka Hotel in Novo mesto. We also organize wedding party transfers.
